With a sweater. One of the most basic things to wear with a black maxi dress is some kind of printed or plain sweater. You could throw on a cardigan as well. This is the simplest way to achieve a cute look.

With a kimono. Kimonos are super trendy and popular right now. That's good news for you because that means that you can find them everywhere! Even if kimonos weren't trendy, I would be wearing them anyways. You know why? They are lightweight, versatile, and easy to wear. When I wear kimonos, there really isn't much thought process into what I'm able to wear with it. It makes getting dressed super easy. Especially for those busy, time consuming days.

With layers. Layering is most definitely a great way to liven up your plain ensemble. Here, I layered a shirt over my black maxi dress and then a denim button up over it. I left my button up open and threw on a scarf. I also combined the print mixing like I suggested above. With layering, they sky is the limit.

With all black. Sometimes, black really is the new black. It's such an understated color. It's my very favorite color to wear to be honest. It goes with everything and it's slimming. I've always gravitated toward this color. Black on black is still a very popular thing that you see today. It's pretty classic and I have yet to see it go out of style.

6 Ways To Style A Black & White Shirt

Unique Geek: 6 Ways To Style A Black & White Shirt #plussizefashion #blackandwhitestripedshirt #blackandwhite #plussizestyle

A few days ago, I showed you 6 Ways To Style A Black & White Dress. Today, I'm showing you how to style a black and white tee six ways. Let's get to it!

With a pop of color. Black and white itself is very versatile. Something  you can do to switch it up a bit is by pairing it with a bright color like the yellow skirt I'm wearing. No matter what color you choose, it will be guaranteed that you'll look fabulous!

With sneakers. By adding sneakers to your black and white ensemble, you instantly made it look sporty and uber casual. I love my sneakers! Any opportunity I can use to wear them is good enough for me. ;) If your sneakers are black and white, it makes the look even more awesome since it's going with your whole "neutral black and white" theme.

With a cropped cardigan. I love cardigans, but in the summer, it's way too hot to wear one. Instead of getting a traditional cardigan, purchase a light, thin, short sleeved, cropped one. It's so much more breathable and you don't end up passing out from heat stroke! Black and white stripes are going to look good with everything, including your lightweight cardigan.

With layers. I absolutely love, love, love layering. Unfortunately, it's currently too hot to do that, but you can still use this idea as inspiration for the cooler months ahead. Adding layers to something as simple as a black and white tee really makes things interesting and breaks textures up a bit. I find that layering is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye and completely transforms a simple black and white tee! In this look, I layered a flowy cardigan with a denim vest over it. I actually made a tutorial on how to make your own denim vest. You can CLICK HERE to check it out! Since then, I've added more studs. ;)

Unique Geek Plus Size OOTD: Happy Thanksgiving! #plussize #plussizefashion Since today is of course, Thanksgiving, I decided to throw on comfy pieces while still keeping it cute. I am all about comfort. If I don't feel confident and comfortable in what I'm wearing, you best believe I'm going to change into something else. All these layers are perfect for this Fall weather. I put these layers together with the intention of taking...KEEP READING

With a leather jacket. A leather jacket is a staple that I believe every woman should have in her wardrobe. If you know me at all, you know I'm dirt cheap, so I purchased this faux leather jacket in the picture below at Ross. It was even on sale. The angels definitely sang when my eyes feasted upon that beauty! Not only can adding a leather jacket to your black and white striped tee toughen it up, but it can also help keep you warm in those cold months.

With another pattern. I love mixing patterns. If you do it right, you won't look tacky. I promise. Start off slow like I did here. I mixed my black and white striped tee with a plaid button up. In my button up, it has black and white colors both in it. That's why it works with the shirt. If you find the same colors in something printed, it makes it easier to mix patterns. In our brains, it seems like it wouldn't work, but surprisingly, it does.

6 Ways To Style A Black & White Striped Dress

Unique Geek: 6 Ways To Style A Black & White Striped Dress #plussizeoutfits #blackandwhitestripeddress #maxidress

Sometimes, it's hard to think of different ways to style a certain piece of clothing. It's easy to get into that rut with something and only wear it one way. That's why I'm here today to help you out!

With layered denim and camo. When you think about stripes, you don't normally think about wearing camouflage with them, do you? I find that it surprisingly looks cute. It gives some edge and uniqueness to your whole outfit. I actually saw one of my favorite fashion and lifestyle bloggers pull it off. You can read about that in my post HERE. I did a style steal with one of the looks that I saw her wearing. I gotta say, I'm lovin' it! (By the way, I know you just sang that McDonald's jingle in your head right now)

Unique Geek Style Steal: Merrick's Art #plussize #plusizefashion #merricksart #merrick #uniquegeek Today, I decided to do some Style Stealing for the blog and I went with one of my favorite lifestyle bloggers, Merrick from Merrick's Art. Please check out her blog! Click HERE to check it out! Something I love about her blog, is that it is full of wonderful pictures of fashion inspiration. She seems like such a kind person and I know you would love her...KEEP READING

With a black tee and leather jacket. Nothing is more classic and easy to pull off than a leather jacket. Am I right, ladies? If you don't have one, you must get one! In my opinion, it's a staple that should be in every woman's closet. You don't have to spend a lot either. The one I'm wearing in this photo cost me $25 at Ross. That's a good deal for a faux leather jacket. I highly suggest checking out discounted places and thrift stores to find an awesome one. Like the first look, the faux leather jacket toughens up this striped maxi.

Unique Geek- Plus Size OOTD: Leather Fever #plussizefashion #plussize #ootd #fashion #winterfashion Since it's definitely freezing outside now, I decided to throw on a leather jacket for some extra warmth. I love leather jackets! They are some of my favorite things to look at and wear. The one I'm wearing is nice and padded inside...KEEP READING

With a bright scarf. Amidst all of that black and white, it's nice to see a bright pop of color standing out. It looks gorgeous and gives new life to your striped maxi. Here, I chose a thick ombre purple one. A scarf with different textures also gives a unique feel to the outfit. Choose your color!

With other patterns. If you have read this blog in any length of time, you know that I love mixing prints and patterns. It spices up your outfit and adds lots of interest. Here, I mixed houndstooth and aztec print along with the stripes. When you think of those patterns, it sounds like it would be a busy mess, but in fact it's just the opposite. Look for patterns in the same color family to mix together. I made sure that my patterns were black and white. They surprisingly flow together to make an interesting outfit. Pattern mixing doesn't have to be scary. Start off slow if you feel uncomfortable and just try mixing patterns by using a scarf.

With a shirt over your dress. Not only can you wear your black and white striped dress...as a dress, but you can also wear it as a skirt! Just throw on any shirt over your dress and it will magically transform into a skirt. Seriously, it's magic. ;) You can throw on a cute, relaxed tee, or a solid color shirt like I did here. I let my shirt be my pop of color, but it's really up to you on if you want a graphic tee or not. I dig graphic tees with striped dresses.

With a cardigan. I know, I know. This one is a no-brainer. There are thousands upon thousands of cardigans out there. You don't have to just stick to a black one like I did. You could go with a bright color, or even a patterned one. You do you, girl!

Fall Florals: 3 Tips On Wearing Floral In The Colder Months

I love florals. Love 'em. You can pair them with so many things. Everything from leather jackets, to plaid. The pairings are almost limitless. I also feel like they look great on anyone.

While floral may be super easy to wear in the spring and summertime, it can be a little challenging to try and sport it in the Fall and Winter. I know it seems intimidating, but once you practice enough and get the hang of it, you'll be able to spot "fall floral" patterns.

So, if you love your floral, but are afraid to rock it in the colder months, keep reading for tips on wearing it around this time of the year.

Tip #1: Material- Look for sweater, cardigan, knitted, or any other kind of material that you can usually only wear in the fall time. Chances are, if it's too hot to wear in the spring/summer time, it's perfect for the cold weather.

Tip #2: Color- In order to pull off floral for the colder weather, look for darker colors. Instead of scouring for pastel or bright colored floral, look for muted, deep, and dark color floral patterns. Since they are darker in color, they will be much more appropriate for colder months where clothing is generally darker.

Tip #3: Pairings- Pair your floral piece with darker pieces to help darken the floral even more. It's also a great way to try wearing floral in the fall/winter months if you're a little nervous about it. If you wear all black with your dark floral piece, it will look flawless every time.
