Fall is right around the corner. What better way to celebrate than to wear plaid and drink hot chocolate?! Sometimes, plaid can be tricky to style without it looking like you are wearing the same thing all the time. To help you out a little bit, I've curated a list of tips on how you can style plaid in 6 different ways.

If you too are a lover of plaid, I invite you to go grab that mug of hot cocoa and get some fashion inspiration for the Fall time coming up!

With a contrasting pattern. I know, I know. It can be pretty intimidating to mix prints and patterns. Start out easy like I did here. I paired black and white stripes with my black, white, and red plaid shirt. The trick to making the pattern mixing work, is to stay within the same color family. For example, I would not wear an orange striped shirt with this plaid one. I would, however, wear it with a plaid shirt that actually had orange in it. It's not as scary as it may seem!

With a graphic tee. This is one of the easiest no-fuss looks to pull off. It makes you look super casual and adds a bit of edge to your outfit. Instead of wearing a plain t-shirt, you can spice it up with a graphic one! Have an old tee that you bought on vacation laying around? Use it!

With a matching blouse. While you can go on the edgier side and wear a graphic tee with your plaid button up, you can also go more traditional and opt for a matching blouse. Here, I'm wearing a blue blouse to match the blue in the plaid button up I'm wearing. If you have a plaid button up that has multiple colors in it, you are golden! You will be able to wear so many different color combinations with it.

With denim. Here, I'm wearing denim on denim. I broke it up a bit by throwing on this plaid button up. Denim and plaid are kind of like peanut butter and jelly. We don't know why it works together. It just does!

With layers. In the cold months, you can never, ever go wrong with layering different pieces together. It looks so fun to be able to see a bit of plaid peeking through your various layers. It's also great to layer plaid when you are wearing all black. It adds in color to your outfit and automatically turns it into the "perfect fall" outfit combination.

I feel almost like I can wear it with anything. It's one of my very favorite patterns. And no, it's not just because I'm...KEEP READING

With a scarf. I am obsessed with scarves. If you buy any new accessory for yourself this Fall, I suggest you buy a scarf. Scarves are super versatile and can be worn in many different ways. Throwing a scarf on top of anything can instantly make you put-together. It will look like you've really tried to come up with a stunning outfit, but without all of the effort. Here, I paired this adorable cat scarf with my plaid button up. The cats are olive green and it picks up the olive green in the button up. I'm a fan!
