6 Ways To Style Plaid

Fall is right around the corner. What better way to celebrate than to wear plaid and drink hot chocolate?! Sometimes, plaid can be tricky to style without it looking like you are wearing the same thing all the time. To help you out a little bit, I've curated a list of tips on how you can style plaid in 6 different ways.

If you too are a lover of plaid, I invite you to go grab that mug of hot cocoa and get some fashion inspiration for the Fall time coming up!

With a contrasting pattern. I know, I know. It can be pretty intimidating to mix prints and patterns. Start out easy like I did here. I paired black and white stripes with my black, white, and red plaid shirt. The trick to making the pattern mixing work, is to stay within the same color family. For example, I would not wear an orange striped shirt with this plaid one. I would, however, wear it with a plaid shirt that actually had orange in it. It's not as scary as it may seem!

With a graphic tee. This is one of the easiest no-fuss looks to pull off. It makes you look super casual and adds a bit of edge to your outfit. Instead of wearing a plain t-shirt, you can spice it up with a graphic one! Have an old tee that you bought on vacation laying around? Use it!

With a matching blouse. While you can go on the edgier side and wear a graphic tee with your plaid button up, you can also go more traditional and opt for a matching blouse. Here, I'm wearing a blue blouse to match the blue in the plaid button up I'm wearing. If you have a plaid button up that has multiple colors in it, you are golden! You will be able to wear so many different color combinations with it.

With denim. Here, I'm wearing denim on denim. I broke it up a bit by throwing on this plaid button up. Denim and plaid are kind of like peanut butter and jelly. We don't know why it works together. It just does!

With layers. In the cold months, you can never, ever go wrong with layering different pieces together. It looks so fun to be able to see a bit of plaid peeking through your various layers. It's also great to layer plaid when you are wearing all black. It adds in color to your outfit and automatically turns it into the "perfect fall" outfit combination.

I feel almost like I can wear it with anything. It's one of my very favorite patterns. And no, it's not just because I'm...KEEP READING

With a scarf. I am obsessed with scarves. If you buy any new accessory for yourself this Fall, I suggest you buy a scarf. Scarves are super versatile and can be worn in many different ways. Throwing a scarf on top of anything can instantly make you put-together. It will look like you've really tried to come up with a stunning outfit, but without all of the effort. Here, I paired this adorable cat scarf with my plaid button up. The cats are olive green and it picks up the olive green in the button up. I'm a fan!

Maybelline Moisture Whip Lipstick Review

~
PROS:
- Highly pigmented
- Easily blendable
- Doesn't feather outside the lines
- Doesn't have a bad aroma
- Smooth application

CONS:
- Will settle in dry and cracked lips even though it is soft and smooth going on
- Not amazing staying power
~

First of all, I have to say that I adore this lipstick! The picture of it on my lips does not even do it justice! It's this beautiful purple lipstick with a tiny bit of red in it.

You can layer the color to get the opacity you want. Depending on how much you layer it, you will be able to pull out more of the red tones or more of the purple tones. I feel like this is lipstick's overall color is purple. I would definitely layer this lipstick a little darker than what you see in this picture, but I like bold lips. If that's not your thing, don't worry! You can sheer it out.

Since this is a dark color, I highly recommend that you use a lip brush to apply it. Just take your time and apply it on layer by layer to get the darkness you would like. Whenever I try to apply this lipstick on its own, it's always super difficult. As you know, dark lipstick tends to stain a little, so it's kind of a pain if you get it out of the lines. So, again, take your time!

I personally think that this color works great on pale skin. I have very pale skin and I really love it. I feel like this would look great on dark skin as well though! Purple pretty much looks great on everyone in my opinion.

If you have dry or cracked lips, this lipstick will definitely not be your comforting friend. You need to exfoliate and apply lip balm and let that sit on your lips before applying the lipstick. Trust me, girl. It's Winter time and I wore it tonight. My lips were looking something awful because I didn't bother to take care of them. If you want to look great in a dark lipstick, you have to take care of those lips, girl!

One last thing I have to mention about this lipstick is the staying power. The product does NOT claim to have this amazing, out of this world staying power. That is a feature that I really love in a lipstick though. Especially if you have to be somewhere for the majority of the day. I wore this lipstick to church tonight and I was only there for an hour. When I got home and looked in the mirror, it was already coming off in the middle. That's fine with me though, because I can touch up and put up with it. I don't think I'd like to wear it if I was at work though. It would be too much of a hassle.

All in all, I really love this lipstick. The color is gorgeous and I love that you can build the color up or take it down a notch. While it doesn't stay put for very long on the lips, I've had this color for years and love it! I feel like it's a great lipstick for the Fall and Winter months.

Do you have a go-to Fall/Winter lipstick? Let me know in the comments! I'd love to try them out for myself!

Makeup Review: NYC Liquid Lipshine

PROS:
- Good smell
- Thick, but not gloopy
- Pretty color
- Long wearing
- Brush on it makes easy application
- Very cheap price (like $1.90 something)

CONS:
- I haven't found any cons.

I really like this lip gloss. The color is perfect for me. Because it's a little bit thicker consistency than some other lip glosses, it makes it really long wearing. I put it on before I went over to the church. I go to Highland Baptist Church. Wanna know who we are and what we're all about? Just click here! I teach a 5-8 year old Sunday School class, so I do a lot of talking. I sing in the choir as well. Fortunately, the gloss stayed put! That is something I'm VERY pleased with. I hate when I'm wearing lipstick or something and it looks terrible because all the talking and singing I do.

It was really cheap as well. I found it at Walmart. Give it a try and let me know what you think. :)

Makeup Review: Revlon Colorstay 24 Hour Liquid Foundation

As you can tell by the title, I am reviewing the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation. My foundation is in the shade 110 Ivory. I give this product a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

PROS:
* Great Coverage
* Perfect Match
*Thick Consistency (Can be good or bad depending on your preference.)
*You barely have to use any to get great coverage
*I feel like this does last a very long time

CONS:
* Your skin really needs to be moisturized before you put this on.
* Can look cakey in places.
* Kind of sinks into your wrinkles and makes you look old.
* You can tell you have foundation on
*Very hard to get out of bottle because it is so thick
*Doesn't have a pump and needed a pump because of how thick it is
*********************************************************************************

I really, really wanted to like this foundation because it was $10 something. I personally think that is pretty expensive to spend money on something that you are going to get every one or possibly two months. Although, I don't put gobs of foundation on my skin, so my foundation does usually last a long time. I think it would last a long time if I really loved it. It seems like it has a lot of product in it. I really hate that it just doesn't work for my skin.

I don't recommend this foundation if you have any dry skin at all. It just clings to the dryness and makes it look cakey. This could possibly work for oilier or smoother skin.

Although, I always read/watch reviews about products before I buy them and I heard lots of good things about this foundation. :/ I have combination skin. That means that some parts of my face are oily and some parts of my face are dry. I'd say that I have overall oily skin though. In the winter, it definitely gets dry. In the summer, it's way too oily! My skin is crazy. lol

While I don't like this foundation, I'm going to use it till it's gone since it was a little pricey for my liking. I will try to see how I can actually get it to work. I'll experiment around with it a little. Maybe I'm just not applying it the best. In the meantime, I am going to look for a different one to try. I'm wanting to try Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Liquid Foundation. It looks real good. So do the reviews. I think it's also only $5. Don't quote me on that! As long as there is a lot of product in there, I'm good. I don't put tons of foundation on my skin anyways, but I like to get my money's worth. We'll see! :)
